Work Experience at Museum

The museum recently had assistance from Ella Lawson, a work experience student from the Heights College in Rockhampton. Ella spent time at the museum over a nine week period gaining experience in the operation of the museum. She was of great assistance to our volunteers with their cataloguing program. The museum is open to any areas where it can assist the learning of our future generations. While at the museum Ella visited our exhibits and was able to give input from the younger generations perspective. Thank you Ella and the Heights College for this opportunity.

New Display Building is Happening

The museum has started the construction of a new display building which will contain our Saluting Their Service Display and a Timeline Display of the Emu Park and District’s History. You can appreciate that this project comes at a great cost and we were lucky to obtain a $ 35,000 grant from the Gambling Community Benefit Fund to start us off. This grant will enable the museum to construct the building and further funds will be needed to complete the electrical, lining and display unit fit out. We will be running several fund raising ventures over the coming months and possibly years to complete and open for visitors by October 2024 to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We look forward to having you join us on this journey and will keep you posted as we progress.
